Speechcraft May 2016
Saturday May 14
12 Victoria Quay members were joined by 7 Speechcrafters – Clare, Frank, John, Mary, Michelle, Phillipa and Paul.
The Agenda was based on the successful model we have been using for some years now.
Tracey was Toastmaster and Carla did the Timing.
Ilija was Sergeant at Arms and provided the afternoon tea.
Lizzie was Table Topics Master and Caroline evaluated the 12 Table Topics speakers. (That was a big job!)
David gave a Workshop on Basic Speaking Skills while Mark did one on Evaluation and followed up with the Evaluation on Andrew’s Icebreaker speech.
Andrew gave a 3 minute Icebreaker – it could have been titled My Speechcraft Experience.
The Introductions were the first opportunity for our Speechcrafters to speak to the audience. They formed pairs with our Toastmaster Trainers and the pairs introduced one another.
Table Topics was a second opportunity for the Speechcrafters and for five of our Trainers as well.
Icebreaker speeches for our Speechcrafters next week. Our Trainers helped them prepare for their 3 minute speeches.
Besides those Victoria Quay members already mentioned, all the other members took part in the Introductions, the Table Topics and the preparation for Icebreakers next week – Glenis, Scott, Shona and Keith.
Tracey closed a very successful opening session just before the scheduled 4pm.
We are looking forward to the Icebreaker presentations next Saturday when we got to know more about the Speechcrafters as they present their prepared speeches.
