Great to see you guys are doing a Speech craft course.

We (Adelaide TM) finished our last Speechcraft course about 3 months ago. We got 3 great new membners out if it (plus some much needed fund:))

Toastmasters International is just a name to most of our members. However, decisions made by the world body do have an impact on our members and clubs. It’s exciting news that we in WA will soon be a District in own right. It’s even more exciting to us in Victoria Quay that when that happens it is almost certain that Mark will be the first District Governor of our new District.

Hi From Boston USA,

I am looking forward to our 700th meeting and I look forward bringing to you stories from the TI convention in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

The move to split District 73 has been approved by World Headquarters so we will have District WA in July 2011. Proposal A has also been passed which means that we will be placed in a region (region 12) of 5 Districts being 69 Qld & NT, 70 NSW & ACT, 72 New Zealand, 73 Vic, SA & Tas and of course District WA (88 or 89).

This probably means not much to most club members but I can assure you that it will help all countries and clubs outside the USA have a stronger voice in the way Toastmasters is run and especially the chance for the winner of District International speech contests to make it to the World Championship.

This years winner was from District 69, Mark Hunter who gave a stunning performance and was a clear winner. Second place also went to an Aussie living in the US so we were overjoyed with the outcome.

I really appreciate Victoria Quay’s support for me to come to this event and I can’t thank you enough.

I liked the checkin, something different. I also enjoyed the table topics speaches – a great theme by Cathy and some good responses to the topics.

Hello David

Nice to read the report on your last meeting. And good news that Davis Raftery is back in the Club. Certainly miss the meetings.

Which brings me to the question – am I still financial ? I seem to recall that we pay our dues in August and I did not pay them, probably because I did not get a reminder. I would still like to be a member thoigh my attendance will be sporadic till early next year. So please advise whether I pay the dues if it is not too late or rejoin the Club at a later date; either would be satisfactory to me.

I leave for Sydney on the 27th of this month and will only return early next year, though I will come back for short periods. My daughter is due her fourth baby early in October, and she will then have four babies under 3 years and 2 months old – a real glutton for punishment. The Twins are quite a handful and the 1 year old is taking lessons from them – she is vey mobile and requires constant supervision; she does not know how to walk, only knows how to run. Which makes Pearl’s and my presence there rather necessary.
