It was a great night at the Central Division C1 Area speech contest last night and it went off without a hitch. Blanche MacQuinto's 10th speech entitled "I made it through the rain" talked a lot about the support, of the Victoria Quay club, provided to her to finish her 10th speech for the Competent Communicator Award. Many of the judges after the contest, mentioned that they felt it had the making of a great International Speech and hoped that Blanche consider such.

Christine Bonser ably assisted Saman Perera (the Chief Judge) and having two capable hands at the start made certain that we started on time, and finished on time. Christine won a door prize, which we hope she will enjoy, and Saman is now a fully blooded Chief Judge, willing and able to do battle for the cause Toastmasters Contests in the future. The quality of the speeches were, excellent, a bit like a good club night at Victoria Quay.

David please note Blanche, Christine and Saman's activities for the club member of the year awards and Neville thank them for me, at the close of tonight's meeting

Peter you are right!
Victoria Quay Toastmasters has been a real inspiration to me - not just because the club has helped with my own speaking and presentation skills but mainly because it is such a pleasure to watch new members take on their fears and discover the speaker that lies within.
Good job Vic Quay – Keep it up

I am really impressed at the Indigenous people who chose to take part in the program. It is clear they have taken on some big obstacles and build their self-confidence and communication skills, and they have great stories to tell. I hope to see them in future at Toastmasters.

Thank you for your comments, Mark.

I have always felt my most important contribution to Toastmasters in WA is to identify future leaders and to encourage them to take on increasing responsibilities. Our great success which is at last culminating in District 17 on July 1 comes from the crop of outstanding new leaders who have emerged. You are one of them Mark and it's very appropriate that you are in line to be our first District Governor.

You have two DTMs now. I'm sure you have more in the pipeline. I will be very pleased and even proud when you pass whatever number I then have. It will mean you have continued to provide inspirational leadership over the long haul.

Well done to David on this incredible achievement of 6 DTMs. If you know the amount of time it needs just to get 1 DTM, to get 6 is amazing.
David has always been an inspiration to me as well as being a mentor and a friend and I can't stress enough how much work and dedication David has given to, not only Victoria Quay, but to all of Toastmasters in WA.
When WA becomes it's own District 17 in July 2011, it was David's foresight and commitment that made this pipedream become a reality.
Congratulations to the most dedicated Toastmaster I know, for your 6th DTM and may there be many more.

Glenis and David,

Thank you for putting on a great afternoon. I enjoyed Colin's Leadership Workshop as it created a lot of discussion which caused us to go overtime. Sometimes the value of a session like Colin's is the discussion it created so the extra time proved its worth and value. Well done Colin and Congratulations on achieving your ACS Gold. I look forward to you achieving you DTM. A Good afternoon had by all.

What a great afternoon we had. Congrats to Colin Hughes on achieving his ACG after 8 years at the club. He has worked very hard to achieve this award and I am very proud of his achievment.
I loved the speeches on the day, it was very entertaining.

Hi David, many thanks for the video, I was touched and humbled.

Also, well done on giving the 'informal' approach a go (i.e. recording direct to Youtube), I think it works very well! I'd like to see you try this approach again.

Looking forward to making a start on my next assignments.
